Refuge Chat Roleplay

The Refuge Roleplay Code of Conduct

The Rules Are The Rules
» When roleplaying at Refuge Chat, you are expected to abide by our house rules. Any disagreements about rules and technicalities during a fight will end in you being referred to these rules. Regardless of whether you do it differently at another chat, or if you think these rules are incorrect, while you are fighting in Refuge Chat you will abide by our rules. All decisions will be based on these rules, and these rules only.

The Defender Chooses The Style
» If a challenge is issued, the defender chooses the style.
» If engaged whilst logged in as their character, the defender is obliged to accept the challenge. The attack is legal, unless:

  • They are AFK or have been noticeably distracted from the chat conversation.
  • They are not logged in as their character.
  • They are already engaged - see the interference rule.

Void Attacks
» Attacks are void if:

  • There are more than 3 spelling errors in prep, attack or connect (includes grammatical/punctuation mistakes in Royals).
  • There is not an action mark before and after each motion.
  • Fillers are used. Fillers include the words "hit", "send", "connect", "to" and "for".
  • The opponents name is not in the post (preps not included)

» If an attack is believed to be voided, the fight will be stopped before restarting after a decision has been made by a countdown from a third party.

Preps
» After preps, attack and connect are still required.
» Magic attacks are capable of dismembering.
» If a person is hit during a prep/attack/connect sequence, the prep count falls to zero and the preps must be redone.

  • Magic use - Requires 2 preps
  • Breaking/dismembering - 1 prep
  • Kill after 5 hits - 1 prep
  • Kill without hits - 5 preps

Additional Rules for Prep "Kill without Hits"
»The name must be stated within the preps. They must be stated as follows:

  • Close combat move - 4th post of the preps
  • Ranged Combat move - 3rd post of the preps
  • Sniper move - 2nd post of the preps

» To stop the kill, the person being attacked must attempt the following:

  • Dodge the attack - counter of the manouvre, or;
  • Attack during the preps, if the attack connects, the preps become invalid

Interference is Void
» No interference. Once a fight begins, 3rd party members are not allowed to interfere. All moves done by a 3rd party are considered void, and ignored.

Disconnects/Boots/Lag
» Computers are prone to misbehave at inappropriate moments, not much can be done about it. If your computer malfunctions during a fight, do your best to return to it as soon as possible. If you can't, for whatever reason, make sure you contact the person you were fighting to schedule a rematch and explain your circumstances. An exception to this is if you're in the middle of a fight, see you are losing, and just hit the little x on the chat screen to leave with no explanation afterwards. Your opponent does have the right to continue the fight then, as if your character was still there and possibly kill him or her. This is what's known as the "auto-death" rule.

Assassinations
» There's no such thing as an assassination. The defender's rule applies here.

Revival and Regeneration
» There's no such thing as soul stealing to the point of no revival. Every character is capable of being revived.

  • Healing Revival - 500 word post, all body parts must be present (do not have to be together) otherwise healing revival will not work.
  • Regeneration Revival - 500 word post (750 if vital organs aren't present, e.g. head, heart etc.). Doesn't require all body parts to be present (as limbs are being regenerated). Must be done on the main chat (not PM) with a minimum of 3 witnesses and can only be performed 1 week after death has occured.
